March for Life 2017
The “March for life” is an annual event organized by the Kenyan Christian Professionals Forum (KCPF) where pro-life groups come together in a peaceful demonstration around the city designed to create awareness on the right to life. The main message communicated is that every human being, including unborn babies, have the right to life – with an emphasis on making it clear that abortion is not the solution to unwanted and unplanned pregnancies.
The Kenya Christian Professionals Forum (KCPF) is a group of Christian Professionals from various denominations sharing common values on issues of family, life, religious freedom and social justice. The group was brought together by the conviction that the then proposed Constitution contained provisions that would substantively alter the hitherto legal positions on the four areas (Family, life, religious freedom and social justice). With the promulgation of the new constitution that includes all the provision that the group was opposed to, there is a need for concerted efforts to influence the implementation of the constitution with special focus on family, life, religious freedom and social justice issues that are contrary to Christian values. The KCPF vision is to see a society made of strong family values and that respects life in an environment of religious freedom, social justice and value-based governance where citizens are able to reach the highest potential that God created them for.
The KCPF Mission is to provide professional support in influencing the development of a legal and social environment that is supportive of Biblical values in the area of family, life and social justice by targeting the education, civil society and governance sectors of society. To this end the KCPF has four committees that are geared to the realization of its mission. These are the;
- Family Committee
- Life Committee
- Governance Committee
- Religion Committee
The Life Committee (Linda Uhai Committee) aims to promote a culture of valuing and preserving the sanctity of life. It is committed to the belief that all life is precious right from conception With this goal in mind, the KCPF, through the Life Committee, came together with other pro-life groups and began an annual initiative known as the Life Week. This annual event happens in March and it’s a time when pro life/pro family groups in Kenya come together in a series of events celebrating Life. The March for Life walk is a key event in the Life Week and this year’s walk will be held on Saturday, 25th March 2017. The gathering point will be at the Railways Sports Club from 7:30 in the morning.
The EACLJ has been a member of the KCPF Life Committee for close to 8 years and has been very involved in planning the March for Life. This year’s theme is “Life is Sacred, Nurture it”. We are very passionate about seeing the culture of valuing life and the family become strong in Kenya. We hope to see you there this Saturday.
